Upcoming Football Fundraiser

Tuesday, September 19th, 2017 by seskaggs7

Football will be holding a SAVERS fundraiser on Saturday Sept. 30 from 11 am to 2 pm.  Bring in your donated goods that you would normally bring to Goodwill, Salvation Army or Unique Thrift (clothes, books and household items). SAVERS weighs the goods by the pound and GCM football gets a portion $$ for what we donate and you will get a tax donation receipt.  THIS IS A GREAT TIME TO DE-CLUTTER! Please drop off your goods in the upper back parking lot – we will have 2 trucks ready to load and drive to the Unique Store at 2 pm.   Attached is a flier outlining the event details.  Feel free to make copies of these fliers and share with your friends and neighbors.  A list of permissible goods appears in the attached flyer – please note that we are UNABLE to take furniture, baby items, TV’s and mattresses.   Questions should go directly to Heather Reis-Platter heather.reisplatter@kw.com or at 703-930-6318.

Thanks so much in advance for supporting STATESMEN FOOTBALL and don’t forget to start collecting your unwanted items.

All Night Grad Celebration (ANGC) Planning Team Information Meeting

Monday, September 18th, 2017 by seskaggs7
The meeting will be Tuesday, September 26th at 7:30pm in C-113.

Contrary to popular myth, the ANGC Planning Team is not made up of only senior parents.  It’s a great PTSA committee for parents of younger students to get involved with because you are working with parents of seniors who have a lot of wisdom to pass along about all things Marshall (and all things teenager!).

Please join us for an Information Meeting to learn more about the party being planned for the Class of 2018.  We will discuss location, games, prizes, t-shirts, and many other aspects that go into making this night a fabulous farewell to our Senior Statesman.

This treasured Marshall tradition is planned and sponsored entirely by parents and cannot be held without everyone’s help.  Luckily, there are many ways to contribute so that every parent can support this amazing all-Senior all-night extravaganza.

If you can’t make the meeting, but would like to get involved, please contact ANGC Chair Christie Johnson at angc@gcmptsa.org.

Welcome to the George C Marshall (GCM) PTSA weekly email Blast!
Each week in this Blast we will literally be linking you up with all the information our Marshall parents need to stay informed.  Our GCM PTSA is all about keeping parents up to date on what’s going on in support of our students and our school and giving you opportunities to participate in any way you are able to.

Our first PTSA meeting is Sept 11th at 7pm at Marshall in Room C114
(Signs will lead you there from front and back of the school)
Dessert will be provided by our very own Davis Center!

Please come and meet this year’s GCM PTSA board members, committee members, Principal Litz, and each other and enjoy some sweets as well!

Tag Day is Coming!
Marching Statesmen Fundraiser Set for This Saturday, September 9
Friday night lights mean football, fun-loving music, flags, and FUNDRAISING! Over 125 students in GCM’s award-winning band program will be knocking on doors in your neighborhood this Saturday, September 9.
Generous donations on Tag Day help the band purchase music, replace aging instruments, provide master classes and instrument-specific sectional instruction, and defray the cost of attending competitions. Last year, the GCM band was declared a Virginia Honor Band for the fourth year in a row!
Cash or checks (made out to GCM BPO) will be gratefully accepted on Tag Day. If the band students do not make it to your street and you would like to make a tax-deductible donation, please mail a check to:
Marshall High School Band, Attn: BPO TAG DAY, 7731 Leesburg Pike, Falls Church, VA 22043.
You can also donate online or learn more about band at marshallband.org.

Class of 2019 Dinner
The Class of 2019 is kicking off the year with a
Myths and Facts of Junior Year dinner.
The event will include a catered dinner, a college prep related speaker and some information about what you do and do NOT need to worry about junior year. It is a busy time for our kids and there is a lot of information we all get bombarded with – it is good to put things in perspective, get some input and thoughts on what is best for our own child/children and network with other parents who either have gone through this or are going through this time in high school.
Here are some details:
WHEN:
Tuesday, September 19th
TIME:
6:30pm
WHERE:
Marshall Cafeteria
COST:
$15 per person
(you can reserve spots and pay on Pay4School Stuff online) or send a check to Dianne Gurdak at 2006 Annie’s Way, Vienna VA 22182
INFO/CONTACTS:
This will serve as a fundraiser, so we are asking parents for a bit of help. We will have dinner provided, but we need to get volunteers for desserts and help staff the registration and serving tables. Please sign up to help out with this wonderful event and we are looking forward to seeing everyone on the 19th!

Additional Parking at St. Luke’s Methodist Church
For all students who drive to school
St. Luke’s Methodist Church across Route 7 from Marshall is offering  a limited number of parking spots for rent to students for the school year.  Please contact Kenny Shrader by email or cell at 703-470-5351 for more information. The passes for the year are $200.
Marshall is losing 64 parking spaces this school year because of the addition of trailers in the back of the school, so this generous offer from the Church will make a big difference in our parking situation.
