Hospitality Opportunity

The GCM PTSA Hospitality Committee is Seeking Additional Members
The PTSA Hospitality Committee is looking for additional members.  There are many fun staff events coming up this Spring that will take quite a bit of planning and effort to pull off successfully.  We will help with the Science Fair, provide a lunch for Guidance Counselors, Administrative Staff, and Librarians, and hold a reception for students receiving awards in June.  In addition, we hold two all staff events – St Patrick’s Day Breakfast in March and a Staff and Faculty Appreciation event in May.
If you have time and interest to assist with the planning and execution of these events and are available during the day, please attend the next (and final) Hospitality Committee meeting on Wednesday, 24 January at Noon in the AP Conference Room at Marshall High School.  This conference room is located right off the Main Office through the Mailroom.  We will review and plan out the calendar of events.
If you have any questions or to RSVP for the meeting, please send an email to hospitality@gcmptsa.org.

Marshall Theatre presents “Big Love”

Don’t miss the VHSL One Act Theatre Festival!

Marshall is honored to host our conference’s VHSL One Act Theatre Festival. This year there will be 9 schools participating and the competition is intense! Schools will be given 5 minutes to set up, 35 minutes to perform and 5 minutes to breakdown and then judged for their ability to deliver meaningful performances! Statesmen Theatre will present “Big Love” by Charles Mee. Based on Aeschylus’s “The Suppliants”, this play is about fifty brides who flee to a manor in Italy to avoid marrying their fifty cousins and raises issues of gender politics and love.

Admission is free. The Festival begins at 10am and Marshall is scheduled to perform at 11:30am. Please arrive no later than 11:15am to get a seat for the Marshall performance! At 11:30am, the auditorium doors will be locked and no further admission will be permitted. Come join us and cheer for the home team!

All Night Grad Celebration (ANGC) Planning Team Information Meeting

Sunday, January 14th, 2018 by seskaggs7

Contrary to popular myth, the ANGC Planning Team is not made up of only senior parents.  It’s a great PTSA committee for parents of younger students to get involved with because you are working with parents of seniors who have a lot of wisdom to pass along about all things Marshall (and all things teenager!).

Please contact us to learn more about the party being planned for the Class of 2018.  Volunteers are helping with the venue (Spring Hill Rec Center), games, prizes, t-shirts, and many other aspects that go into making this night a fabulous farewell to our Senior Statesman.
This treasured Marshall tradition is planned and sponsored entirely by parents and cannot be held without everyone’s help.  Luckily, there are many ways to contribute so that every parent can support this amazing all-Senior all-night extravaganza.

If you would like to get involved, please contact ANGC Chair Christie Johnson at angc@gcmptsa.org.

We Want Your Clutter!
Saturday, January 6, 2018

9am to 12pm
Marshall High School Front Parking Lot
Drop off your unwanted goods (soft goods: clothes, sheets, towels, linens/fabric, shoes, purses, accessories, jewelry, as well as hard goods: books, household items, unwanted home décor or Christmas decorations and anything you normally give to Goodwill or Unique). No furniture, baby items, TV’s and mattresses. We will have a truck ready to load with your donations. DONATED GOODS IN TIED GARBAGE BAGS WORK BEST.  Goods are weighed by the pound and Class of 2018/All Night Grad gets a portion $$ for what we donate. We do get more $$ for the soft goods. Tax receipts for 2017/18 are available.
Again – we cannot take furniture, baby items, TV’s and mattresses.

A look at what’s ahead…We need your support!

Tuesday, December 12th, 2017 by seskaggs7
If you haven’t donated or joined the GCM PTSA yet NOW is the time!
Dear Marshall Parent:
Your PTSA is here to support Marshall, its students and its teachers.  We strive every day to make the Marshall community stronger and to make sure the future is bright for our students.  We accomplish a great deal every year but we need your help to make it so.  I am writing to ask you to make a donation today or to join the PTSA if you have not already done so.
Now is a great time to join the PTSA.  We have much planned for the rest of the school year.  We will be having a meeting with a number of our School Board members so we can tell them what our priorities are.  We will be helping put together the All Night Grad Celebration and helping the school conduct its classes on George C. Marshall and his legacy.  We will be funding our teachers’ WishLists to provide them with new supplies for their classrooms.
We will have representatives of the FCPS Facilities office coming to our January meeting to talk about the 12 classroom Portable Learning Cottage (as Mr. Litz calls it) that will be constructed in the back of the school and the future of our building and our population.  We will need to pay for projectors for each room, help the teachers who will be in the 12 classrooms decorate, and make the “hallway” and transition between the buildings appealing and safe for the students.
For those of you who have not joined, please join today and if you can, make an additional donation.  For those of you who have joined, anything additional you can do to support us will be greatly appreciated.  We need to raise an additional $8,000 in order to pay for all of the items we need for Marshall.  Please be as generous as you can.  Go to pay4schoolstuff.com, login and make your contribution today.
