Hello GCM Community!

Welcome back to another exciting school year! My name is Sam Hedenberg, and I am the new publications adviser at George C. Marshall High School. I am excited to join the fantastic faculty here and look forward to working with your wonderful students and community.
The PTSA has graciously allowed me to provide you important information about ways you can assist in ensuring the health and success of our stellar, award-winning publications. Click HERE for more information about our publications.
The publications at GCM are completely self-funded and sustaining, meaning they receive ZERO funding from FCPS. Not only does this model provide an excellent learning environment for students to run a real, functioning business, it also ensures independence from school entities and solidifies concepts of journalistic integrity/objectivity.
As such, community support is CRITICAL to the health of the program.
The following forms will assist you in finding ways to assist in supporting the program’s success.
Similarly, donations of any size are always welcome and appreciated, especially if in the form of gift cards and/or school supplies (specifically reporter’s notebooks and Sharpie markers).
If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact me Have a great school year!
