A look at what’s ahead…We need your support!

Tuesday, December 12th, 2017 by seskaggs7
If you haven’t donated or joined the GCM PTSA yet NOW is the time!
Dear Marshall Parent:
Your PTSA is here to support Marshall, its students and its teachers.  We strive every day to make the Marshall community stronger and to make sure the future is bright for our students.  We accomplish a great deal every year but we need your help to make it so.  I am writing to ask you to make a donation today or to join the PTSA if you have not already done so.
Now is a great time to join the PTSA.  We have much planned for the rest of the school year.  We will be having a meeting with a number of our School Board members so we can tell them what our priorities are.  We will be helping put together the All Night Grad Celebration and helping the school conduct its classes on George C. Marshall and his legacy.  We will be funding our teachers’ WishLists to provide them with new supplies for their classrooms.
We will have representatives of the FCPS Facilities office coming to our January meeting to talk about the 12 classroom Portable Learning Cottage (as Mr. Litz calls it) that will be constructed in the back of the school and the future of our building and our population.  We will need to pay for projectors for each room, help the teachers who will be in the 12 classrooms decorate, and make the “hallway” and transition between the buildings appealing and safe for the students.
For those of you who have not joined, please join today and if you can, make an additional donation.  For those of you who have joined, anything additional you can do to support us will be greatly appreciated.  We need to raise an additional $8,000 in order to pay for all of the items we need for Marshall.  Please be as generous as you can.  Go to pay4schoolstuff.com, login and make your contribution today.

Give Us Your Clutter!  And We Take Donations too!

New Year, New You. WE WANT YOUR CLUTTER!

Saturday, January 6, 2018 9am to noon – Drop off your unwanted goods (clothes, books and household items) in the GCM front parking lot to benefit the Class of 2018 and All Night Grad.  We will have a truck ready to load with your donations. Donated goods in tied garbage bags work best.  SAVERS (Unique) weighs the goods by the pound and Class of 2018/All Night Grad gets a portion $$ for what we donate. Tax receipts are available. Email Lisa Youngers to donate before end of year and get a 2017 receipt. Please note that we are UNABLE to take furniture, baby items, TV’s and mattresses.  Tell your neighbors and friends. This is a great way to raise money while de-cluttering your home and a great way for students to spend some time cleaning over break.

Reflections Arts Contest: Students Dream of What’s “Within Reach”

A colorful figure reaching for the sky. A Metro train in vivid motion. A dancer realizing she has wings. A familiar war memorial seen in a new light. These images and more were how Marshall students interpreted the idea of “Within Reach,” this year’s theme for the national PTA Reflections Arts contest.
This annual contest seeks creative works showing what the theme means to individual students. For each art form, the work chosen as the “Outstanding Interpretation” at Marshall moves up for further judging at the PTA district level, competing with entries from other high school students. The Award of Excellence goes to runners-up in each art form and the Award of Merit acknowledges the third place entries.

2018 ANGC Silent Auction

Thursday, November 16th, 2017 by seskaggs7
THE CLASS of 2018 is ONE QUARTER OF THE WAY TOWARD GRADUATION…
and planning for the All Night Grad Celebration is underway!

A ticket to the ANGC at GCM costs less than any other school in our area.

WHY?

Because we want ALL members of the Class of 2018 to attend this alcohol and drug free SAFE celebration on graduation night.

HOW CAN WE MAKE SURE IT STAYS THIS WAY?

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

We need one wonderful item from you for the All Night Graduation Celebration’s biggest fundraiser……the Silent Auction!

Items (sports tickets, memorabilia, art, jewelry, hotel or restaurant gift cards) or services (individual or group lessons, camps, practical help like painting, handyman, landscaping)……all will sell!
Please think about what you could offer to donate and contact the Auction Committee.  Please also share your ideas on who we should also contact for donations!  Items will be gathered in January & early February.
Thanks in advance for your help!
