Orchestra and Band Concerts Wednesday and Thursday

The Marshall Music Department presents their Winter Concerts on Dec. 6 and 7 at 7:00 p.m. in the Auditorium.  Dec. 6 will include the Orchestra and Band ensembles and Dec. 7 will include the Choir and Guitar ensembles.  Both concerts will conclude with selections from Carmina Burana by Carl Orff.  This masterwork will be performed by the combined Statesmen Singers, Camerata, Statesmen Sinfonia, Guitar, Wind Symphony, and Percussion.

Win an Amazon Gift Card for $200!

Sign Up to Volunteer for the All Night Grad Celebration by December 13th and you will be entered into our drawing!!
We didn’t think the kids should have all the fun of winning prizes, so this year we have added them for parents too.  This $200 Amazon gift card drawing will take place the morning of Dec 14th and delivered to you that day.  And, we will have prize drawings each shift for the volunteers who work the event.
To put on a safe, alcohol and drug free, all night celebration for the Class of 2018 we need adult volunteers to help.  This isn’t just for senior parents!!  Anyone who will be 21 or older by the night of the celebration – June 13th – can sign up.  This is a great event for older siblings who will be back in town for graduation – even family & friends.  If you have a younger Marshall student it’s a great way to learn about the event and support the seniors and their families.
Sign up now HERE to get your first choice time slot.
Sign up with friends so you can all work a shift together.
The help we need ranges from decorating to serving food, helping with games & activities, working coat check, checking in students & volunteers, assisting with the prize drawings, security (which often means you can read a book while watching over an exit or fire alarm!) and clean up next morning.
We are excited to give the Class of 2018 this graduation gift to celebrate their accomplishments.  Please sign-up to help us make the event a success.

Marshall Toy Drive for Second Story – thru Dec 13th
Marshall Academy Ambassadors have teamed up with Marshall HS’s Leadership Class to host a Toy Drive for Second Story formerly the Alternative House thru Wednesday, December 13th. If you are able, drop off new and/or gently used toys in the Main Office, Academy Office and cafeteria.

PTSA Hot Chocolate Event for Student Members Tuesday Dec 12

We are holding a thank you event on Tuesday December 12th during Learn in the Cafeteria for current student PTSA members and for students who sign up to become members during the event.  Please tell your student to come by for a free cup of hot chocolate.  If they are not yet a member, membership forms will be available and it is only $5 to join.  New student members will be entered for a chance to win a free Marshall Tumbler!
The PTSA provides many valuable events for students and they can list the membership on their student resume.  If you have any questions, please email the GCM Hospitality Committee at hospitality@gcmptsa.org

Reflections Arts Contest: Students Dream of What’s “Within Reach”

A colorful figure reaching for the sky. A Metro train in vivid motion. A dancer realizing she has wings. A familiar war memorial seen in a new light. These images and more were how Marshall students interpreted the idea of “Within Reach,” this year’s theme for the national PTA Reflections Arts contest.
This annual contest seeks creative works showing what the theme means to individual students. For each art form, the work chosen as the “Outstanding Interpretation” at Marshall moves up for further judging at the PTA district level, competing with entries from other high school students. The Award of Excellence goes to runners-up in each art form and the Award of Merit acknowledges the third place entries.
Here are the 2017-2018 Marshall Reflections results. Congratulations to all who participated!
